We dressed him all in white

We dressed him all in white

Finalist for Best New Artist at the 2021 Third Coast Awards

Elijah was musical even inside the womb: he’d kick to the rhythm and beat of the music that Carolina would stay up late dancing to. He was born blind in one eye, but this only sharpened his ear. He had perfect pitch, he played the violin like a dream. He was smart, sneaky, skinny, sensitive, gifted, troubled. It was 2014, in the early hours of a cold January morning, when Carolina found her son dead in his room. He was 16. We dressed him all in white is a story of pain and loss – but also openness, release, lucid dreaming and sexual awakening.
